Thought for the Week.  “Today, as the Church seeks to experience a profound missionary renewal, there is a kind of preaching which falls to each of us as a daily responsibility. It has to do with bringing the Gospel to the people we meet, whether they be our neighbours or complete strangers. This is the informal preaching which takes place in the middle of a conversation, something along the lines of what a missionary does when visiting a home. Being a disciple means being constantly ready to bring the love of Jesus to others, and this can happen unexpectedly and in any place: on the street, in a city square, during work, on a journey.”” Pope Francis.

This year The Fourth Sunday of Advent falls on 24 Dec. That morning we will have the usual Sunday morning Masses at 9.30am and 12.30pm. In the evening we will have just one Christmas Eve Mass at 8pm, a time we hope will be suitable for all, including families. There will be no Mass at Midnight. On Christmas Day there will be Masses at 9.30am and 12.30pm. Confessions are on Friday 22 Dec. 7-7.30pm, Sat. 23 Dec. 10.30-11am and 5.30-6pm, and Sun. 24 Dec. 7-7.45pm. A sheet is available at the back of Church with full details of services.

Our Crib Offering this Christmas will be donated to the Westminster Catholic Children’s Society, who support disadvantaged children across our diocese. Recently they have been especially helping children traumatized by the Grenfell Tower fire.

We are pleased to announce that our new parish website is up and running: www.humilitas.org We are currently updating it and adding material. Please let us know your views on the website and anything you wish to see there.

The Sacrament of Confirmation will be given next year on Friday June 22nd at 6pm. If you would like to be confirmed next year, please speak to Fr. Keith after one of the Sunday Masses before the middle of January. The first class will be on Monday 15 Jan. at 6pm. The Westminster Foodbank, situated just off the Harrow Road, is receiving many more requests for help. If you are able to bring donations of non-perishable foods, please hand them in to the sacristy after Mass or the parish office during the week.

We have rooms available for rent in the parish house on a short-term basis. If you know anyone who wants to stay in London, either for a few days, or for up to three months while they find permanent accommodation, please contact the parish office for details.

Are you new to the Parish? Please let us know by filling in one of the Registration forms at the back of Church and handing it in.

Truths of the Catholic Church – weekly session. Unsure of Church teaching? Trying to make sense of the modern world and its values? Uncertain about matters of morality? John Cassidy invites you to come along on Wednesdays any time between 11 am and 1 pm to find out more. Starting Wednesday January 17th ‘Connect with Christ’ – bring you closer to Jesus!

If someone you know becomes unable to get to Mass, please let us know so we can arrange for them to receive Holy Communion at home. If they are taken to hospital, please ensure that nurses ask the Catholic chaplain to visit them: if this proves difficult, contact us so we can arrange this. We now have a monthly newsletter for the sick and housebound of the parish.
